I was a die hard football fan when I was 15. I loved Manchester United, and Team Brasil. Enough to name my lil grey tabby cat, Romario. (He had excellent ball handling skills for a cat). That summer, I bought myself some serious umbro gear and headed to soccer camp. I will admit that my enthusiasm for the sport may have had a teeny weeny bit to do with the cuteness of certain players in the glossy posters I hung in my room. Maybe. But I sure had fun playing that summer, two broken toes and all. How did I break my toes playing football? Well, like the three previous times I broke my toes:
- Kicking my Grandmother’s metal tea trolley;
- Kicking the toilet seat whilst dancing in the bathroom;
- Running into a sliding door;
In the most awkward way possible. Yeah. Coordination. Not. So. Much. My skating coaches were super thrilled when I had to take the first week off summer skating training because I couldn’t fit my swollen, black-and-blue toes in my skates.
Anyway, Man U was the best team then, and always, especially after the 4-nil pummeling they gave Arsenal in the FA Cup quarterfinals. Booyah!
Independent Thought:
If you have taken care to be on cheap cruises rather than the expensive cruise deals, naturally you will also care about the other expenses. Why not try a travel lodge this time instead of staying at expensive hotels?

February 17, 2008 at 1:00 PMYep, pretty much no one in manchester supports man utd. They seem to have been created to cater for those who know nothing about football.
Not that I’m bitter that my local team is shit. Not at all.
But we did beat Man U last time we played a couple of years ago. It was glorious.

February 17, 2008 at 1:01 PMMy favourite ManU match is still Champions League Final 1999. I just love to watch when Bayern gets a beating.
Two more days and Champions League starts again. ManU vs. the French – a coincidence perhaps?!
I won’t mention your technique, but as a football referee…I’ve seen worse ;)
Anyway my favourite team is Real Madrid.

February 19, 2008 at 3:48 PM@James — don’t worry. my dreams of a career in professional football died upon editing that vid.
@Graham — what team’s that?
@Dennis — i gave it my all. but sometimes you fall just short of expectations, don’t you? all you can do is try.
@ComposeAnalysis — fingers and toes crossed. *ouch* i think i just injured myself doing that.
@Rodrigo — i do. is that your favourite team?
@Mark — try to. try really really hard. and sometimes they do moderately well.
@Dan — it was payback for the three pronged plug attack i suffered earlier. it wasn’t the camera’s fault, it was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
@RBeezy — fo shizzle!
@djh — you did. i felt mildly embarrassed for you. PS. got your Marks and Sparks choco bickies.
@jet — aww sorry. they did get a whooping didn’t they? and it’s not just my toes that have suffered fatal blows in the past. figure skating is a dangerous sport. *toe pick*
@Nate –surely you are mocking me? you are aren’t you. :cry:

February 20, 2008 at 8:17 PMSomeone with the talents you’ve kindly displayed for us would have fitted in a treat as by the end of the game Arsenal had resulted to kicking everything that was around them… Although Nani is very soft so you wouldn’t of broken your toe this time!
5 points clear of AMG utd, c’mon Arsenal!
Nice blog BTW, it’s my first time here… but I’ll be back!
