Geeky Stuff Life Photography

Updates and random fun!

Ok. So I went to Vidfest and was super inspired by Dooce, the sassiest female blogger ever and MightyGirl’s Maggie Mason.

Dooce & MightyGirl

Then, I went to the Vancouver Apple Store launch and waited in line for 2 hours and cried because i didn’t get a free t-shirt until they gave me one out of pity and embarrassment. And then upon returning home, I realized the t-shirt was sooo big I could fit my entire body inside it.

This Mac Tee is a little big for me

Then I accidentally URLed my blog on a few iMacs in the store. Oops. And I realized that there wasn’t anything in the store to see that I hadn’t seen when I went to the London Apple Store.

Mostly Mac

Of course, I took all sorts of video and photos at these awesome events, but I’ve had so little time to set up my MB Air and my MB slowed down to G4 stylez last night because I packed it so full of media goodness that it had no room to breathe. It was gasping and overheating and complaining a lot, so I’ve decided to take a good chunk of today and spend it on sorting my heaps of GBs, reformatting my MB, reinstalling Leopard on my MB, and digging into the MB air.

iJustine/eJustine reminded me about some software that I always forget about when my machine is acting up called Disk Inventory X. It’s super at showing you what stuff is taking up so much room on your computer and why it’s moving slower than a dehydrated donkey. I also used this opportunity to add more cartoony arrows and text in Skitch cuz it’s sooo fun!

What's on my MB

Yikes! I take a lot of photos. almost 30GB in 4 months. I’m glad i found those old iMovie HD files though. Saved me a bunch of room!

Oh yeah! I got a Lomo last week! I’m ready to get so lomosexual.

Lisa's New Holga Lomo

Lisa+Lomo

This Holga Lomo has a hot shoe so I bought this awesome Colorsplash flash kit that came with a little rotating wheel that you can put coloured gels in to get extra snazzy tint in your shots.

I has Lomo!

I’m so excited to see my first roll of shots which include shots of the 604 showcase, peeps on Kits beach, and this weird giant crab.

MostlyLisa interview with PureStyle Magazine

I also did an eInterview with PureStyle Magazine. I wrote the response to this at 5am so it may be slightly weird or incomprehensible, but somewhat entertaining… mostly. 10 points if you can find my embarrassing typo in the article. Gah!

Are you a designer??? Can you make sweet vectors?? Send me your Canadian Vectoramas! No one has submitted any vector illustrations for my monthly design competition. And I’m so angry! Jerks!

where is ur stinkin vectorama?

Don’t snooze and lose out on the chance to score an ad spot on my sidebar. Go here for more details.

Annd I just upgraded to WP 2.5.1 so there maybe a few glitches here and there until i sort things out.

PS. Brian Shaler thinks he is pretty funny.

I miss my Holga… I used to spend a LOT of time on Lomography.com, way back before Flickr existed and social networking had taken off…

I haven’t done any photography in years now, I don’t even think there’s anything in my Flickr account, although I’m getting a Flip camera to fix that one of these days…

In “enough about me let’s talk about you” news, great interview :)

The Holga rocks! Nice work there… I’m a fellow Lomographer who has let his camera get way too dusty as of late.

Weah… you didn’t sell me one Skitch with the last post, but that screenshot is way cool. Definitely worth having when writing tutorials and pointing stuff out… it’s poo doing that stuff in a larger editor.

See if I can do a vector, I don’t know much about Canada except maples leaves and the CN Tower. :(

…I’m can be mostly zany…ooops this should read “I can”

This is nothing to worry about Lisa. With 21 previous comments it is obvious that your fans are not worried about a simple slip of the keys. Everybody is at your side through as many typo’s as you can make. Watch and see.

Hey, you should change the rules on the Vectorama submissions. I’m not much of a vector person but I do some kick-butt design work in Photoshop and Painter. If you allow those kind of submissions I can get you some cool stuff for the Vectorama (although you might have to change the name then).

Anyway, cool stuff…loved the randomness of this post.
