This just in: Still no iPhones in Canada.

No iphones in Canada this-is-not-an-iphone-2

Bet all you posh British folks are feeling well pleased with yourselves. Pleased as punch, aren’t you? Cuing up at the Regent Street Apple Store, moments away from smudging your fish and chip and egg and marmite crispy fingers all over a shiny new iPhone… Well I’m sooooooooo happy for you.

So is this Mounty. If he had an iPhone, perhaps he would have been able to save Mantook the beaver, who was injured in a tragic igloo cave-in.

iPhoneless Canadian Mounty

I leave you with this sad self-portrait of me and my crappy Nokia z-they-don’t-even-make-this-model-anymore Phone. Think aboot that, Nikf and Graham and Nathan, and feel just a tad guilty for the iPhoneless Canadian girl.

Ugh. Supposedly $140 or $160 or $1-something per month for data when they hit Rogers. And $600 for the hardware. They’re $400 USD and our dollar is superior to theirs atm, so wtf?

Well, yes the iPhones are here but I will be waiting (everso impatiently) for the 3G version that is surely just around the corner? Everything I have read about Edge just takes the ‘edge’ off an instant purchase for me. Great site by the way. How could you have not checked out Liverpool on your recent UK trip? It’s the European Capital of Culture next year don’t you know!

@Chris — you’re lack of appreciation for your iPhone disgusts me. seriously! give that iPhone some love or i shall nick it from you!

@Chris Magnusson — yeppers, it sho iz looooads of money. that’s why mostly lisa will only wish and dream aboot the iPhone, because owning one is faaaar faaaar away from reality.

@A n d r e w — you are so 3G hooked up over there it really is lame to go with Edge. def wait for next gen on that one. aww, i would love to get to Liverpool as my uncle lives there. i’ll prob be back in the new year, so i will try to plan a stop to the “European Capital of Culture”.

@Nik — cheeky lil bugger, ain’t you!!!

At least you don’t get the 300 page bills. They have a few cracked iPhones in Asia. I haven’t been tempted yet. It looks cool. Maybe when I’m in Canada.

Well, it’s better not getting an iPhone than getting iBricked. You know Lisa, when these people crack the iPhones to work with the local service providers, it gets locked when you try to download the service updates..
And believe me, you need the updates!! And that’s what they call an iBrick. Because the iPhone is nothing more than a brick once that happens!! Even if you had a cracked phone in Canada, you don’t want it to turn into a brick once you spend on it yes!?
Just trying to be optimistic.. haha!

decided to keep the iPhone in the end. Got all my contacts and some of my music (ive got ~45Gb of music for an 8gb iPhone). I need to get a cover for it thought. So scared of scratching it

@MindBlogger – You can now unbrick the phones. All of the firmware updates have been cracked and can be installed. Im now running v1.1.2 which is the most up to date. The software updates only bring minimal enhancements. I havent noticed a thing since updating from v1.1.1 to v1.1.2.

as long as there’s a pimply 17 year old hacker living in his mama’s basement, there’ll be a crack for any software update.

I’m thinking of getting an unlocked jesus phone. I won’t do it until Christmas but by then Rogers may announce that they’ve got it so we’ll see how it all plays out.

@range — don’t worry we have loads of rich people wanting unobstructed ocean views in Canada, so no need to worry about the massive deforestation involved in making 300 pages of iPhone fun.

@Mindblogger, @Chris & RBeezy — talk amongst yourselves… it’s a mini Mostly Lisa tech forum. i’m so touched i might start to… *single tear* so beautiful

my two cents: i wouldn’t want to tempt the fates with an unlocked iPhone…iBricks sound uber lame. even if there is a way to unbrick it… still seems like a dangerous and expensive gamble. jesus phone, nice one… won’t be long til some one uploads a jpeg of burnt jesus toast as their iPhone screen background.

I would feel slight guilt if we hadn’t nearly died of frigging exposure to get the damn thing…
