Sunset walk, Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast

17-35mm lens, 35mm, f/7.1, 1/125, ISO 200

I thought I’d just share this picture of a father & daughter taking a sunset stroll on the beach at Surfer’s Paradise. Such a magical moment. The Gold Coast of Australia is stunningly beautiful and a heaven to shoot. I have taken so many shots, I don’t know what to do with them all. I guess I’ll start processing them on the 17 hour flight home to Vancouver :S

To get the shot I had to crouch down as low and as close to the shoreline as possible. I waited for the waves to pull in so I could grab their reflection in the sand. Moments after I took this shot I got drenched by a huge wave. Luckily, my gear didn’t get damaged because I have such cat-like reflexes.

I definitely need to visit Australia – did they REALLY have to put it that far away?

What an amazing pic! Did you meter the scene before crouching down?
    17-35mm…is that a 3rd party lens? I only know Canon’s 16-35mm L lens, didn’t know there’s a 17-35.

Great photo- I am wondering if you gave the pic to the father and daughter? That would be such a treasure for them!

Love the Goldy. It’s funny though I have been reading the other posts and there are some amazing places I would like to visit again or for the first time.
Good to hear you all enjoyed the Gold Coast come again some day.
Guess I’ll go now and hang out at the sun drenched white sandy beach.
