Back to business folks. Web 2.0 business. Now, I’ve been hearing some dissent in the blogging community regarding Web 2.0 and it’s chill factor. And dude, it’s so unchill to dis-Web 2.0. Dude. So. Non. Chill.

Today I’m gonna lay down the law on the 2.0 Social Networking Communities and Micro-blogging. Maxo Blogging platforms will be covered another day. Is that a word? Maxo. It is now. Ha.

Here’s what I like and don’t like:

Social Networking:

Facebook

It’s thing:

Everyone is on facebook. Everyone. Your ex-boyfriend(s), your high school bully, your dog, your entire family, your boss, your neighbour, your old high school English teacher, your parents, your friend’s parents, all dogs, some cats & now spambots! Yes!

  • Like: Reconnecting is fun. Connecting with new cool people is fun. New WordPress app. is super chill. Love it. Twitter & Web Presence app are sweet. Video app is useful.
  • Don’t like: All the other apps. People need to chill it with the apps. How many emotions/moods does one person need to emote? I have one mood. Chill. All the time. No seriously… your dog, your garden, your aquarium, your horoscope, fortune cookie, super wall, super poke, x-me, graffiti… ahh what is all this cluttered mess. It all looks like uber spam adware to me. And if I can’t find your wall in under 5s, my mood will change from chill —> unchill.

myspace

It’s thing: Bands are awesome.
Like: Nothing.
Don’t like: How much it sucks.

Virb

  • It’s thing: Chillest Place for the uber hip and techy. CSS heaven.
  • Like: Customizable CSS. The design is super chill. Love it. Everyone I meet on Virb is super cool and inspirational. Ease of sharing video, photos and embedding flickr, revver, vimeo. Cleanest site around.
  • Don’t like: Searching for people is still a bit tricky, but once you find a group you like, you can find people easily. Still quite fond of my wordpress blog, so I haven’t spent a lot of time customizing my page or joining groups, so I haven’t reached the level of chill that I’d like to on Virb.

Pownce

  • It’s thing:

Invite only message, file, link, event sharing network.

  • Like: Design is pretty cool. File sharing is quite useful.
  • Don’t like: I’ll admit to not spending a lot of time on Pownce, mostly because no one is on it yet. With my priorities elsewhere, I haven’t found the time to seek out a community on Pownce. We’ll see if this one catches on… May take some time.
  • Jaiku

    • It’s thing: The ultimate RSS collector.
    • Like: Love the look of it. Love the ease of updating and how low maintenance it is. It just collects all my feeds puts them in one spot. Good work.
    • Don’t like: Google ads that I don’t get paid for. Boo. No one I know is on Jaiku except Chief Twit, Leo Laporte.

    Tumblr.

    • It’s thing: All-star micro-blogging. Go nuts and share and embed and link to your heart’s content.
    • Like: That is rocks. Templates are super sweet. Low Maintenance. Simple. Easy.
    • Don’t like: Absolutely nothing. Get a tumblog. I dare you. Honestly, great for first time bloggers. So easy to use.

I’m out. Comments are always welcome.

And then go watch Jake and Amir. Chillest. Thing. Ever.

If another zombie bites me on facebook, I’m just gonna go off–grrr. Of course, playing Scrabble with creative directors is kindof handy. Networking rules, but Scrabble is way more fun, especially when I kick their arses.;) Oh wait, I’m supposed to be nice.

Facebook is perfectly summed up by the fact that I’ve received 2 invites to parties from people on my Friends list, who I don’t even know.

“How many emotions/moods does one person need to emote?”

    That’s funny !

99.9% of my friends I actually know in person. Myspace….it’s crap. I got on there late and glad I did…didn’t miss anything. Some people still argue its WAYYY better than Facebook, and I”m like WTF. Thats ok cause people will argue that Hotmail (MSN) is better than GMail (I don’t see how).

Good thing I own http://www.facespam.com anyone wanna buy it !!

I have like 20 pownce invites to give…seems everyone has invites, but I don’t see many people making the switch…of course late comers who never used Twitter might go directly to Pownce.

I wish I could send a zombie to these comments to totally bite everyone who commented. Then everyone who got bit would turn into zombies and we’d be like this Zombie Army and we’d have so many awesome slideshows and apps and Gmails and we’d get so many invites to everything.
