Mostly Lisa’s Photo Competition #1: Summertime

summertimes are funky

So many people asked me to hold a regular photography contest, so, hizzah, hizzah, here is the very first one I’m calling: “Summertime.” Excited! Already popping off your lens cap? Oh boy!

I want to see your best shot of glorious, beautiful summertime. Something that screams days on the beach, cold drinks, vacations at the lake, flip flops, gorgeous sunsets, feet in the sand, sticky lollipop fingers, roadtrips.. & all that good stuff.

Submissions:

  1. Add your best image to the Mostly Lisa Photo Competition Group on Flickr and include the flickr image url in the comments below.
  2. If you don’t have your image uploaded online, then email it to me at mostlylisa*at*gmail*dot*com.

I’ll give you about 2 weeks to look through your summer shots or take a few more in the last fleeting days of summer.

Deadline:
Thursday September 18th. There may also be prizes for the winner! OoooooooO.

Now show me some awesome summertime photos!

Camera tips. Photo contests. You seem to be about 20seconds away from starting your own podcast. So, where do I subscribe?

I don’t know if this is quintessentially summertime enough, but this pic I took yesterday is a strange result of heavy summer rains –

Well I am going for cute and cuddly on this one. Here is a great photograph of George, one of our two rabbits. This was in the garden on an August summer day last year (it was summer honest – we are in the UK!).

I know we’re only meant to submit one photo, but I just took a bunch of The Zutons at Jerseylive ’08 (my fave band) and I can’t decide which is the best.

Anyhow, please have a look at all of the Jerseylive photos in my stream (even if not for the competition):

    Hi Lisa,

I emailed you the link as well but thought I would post this for all who follow your blog.

This photo should remind all of those who grew up near a beach how much fun it was to play in the sand, make sand castles, etc.

It’s healed to the point that I can use a camera now, and I may get out and shoot some this week.

This is a shot I took this summer in Jaco, Costa Rica. I thought these kids were pretty inventive in how they would get down to the beach. Great idea for a contest Lisa.

    Summer?!?

I was hoping for out of place objects, cute but deadly animals or humorous methods of transport, but with it being practically Autumn (aka ‘Fall’) here in the UK you’ve really gone and set a challenge!

Hopefully this weekend coming up will clutch at the last remaining vestiges of sunshine and offer an appropriate picture! Fingers crossed!

While my picture was taken during winter in Cuba, I still think it applies to the theme.

Summer was amazing… and thought I’d add this photo I lucked out with.

Decided it was time to try and do things I’ve never done before, so hopped in a little float plane and managed to get this shot from the back seat as we flew over Northwestern Ontario as the sun was going down.
