When my wife and I visited Chichen Itza on 9/21/98 we had a very strange experience. The guide told us that a temple was haunted by spirits and I went right in as the group moved on. It was over 100 degrees outside, not a cloud in the sky and absolutely no wind at high noon. There was a stone structure inside and it looked like a chimney going upwards. Suddenly I felt a very cold chill coming down and out of this chimney and asked my wife to come inside and see if she too felt it. She did and ran out. I’ve never concerned myself with spirits before but this was kind of freaky. I was looking for some scientific explaination but then I realized I had not felt the cool air when I first walked inside and there was no wind blowing. So was I being summoned by the ancient mayans. My father told me that our italian name originated in Spain over 500 years ago. Maybe my evil, ignorant ancestors helped destroy that culture!
