Live MacHeist show a great success!

Here’s the video. Every single second of it :S

I’m actually really proud of this show and everyone involved. It was my first time producing a show this big, technologically challenging, & live! I lost about 5 pounds in sweat, literally. There were moments when I just wanted to crawl into the fetal position a cry. But we had such an amazing team who pulled several all-nighters to get this show up and running.

MacHeist Bundle Reveal show set-up

I was so grateful that my Redpilot partner, Ryland Haggis, came down to help oversee some of the technical aspects, including running all over San Francicso looking for 8 core Mac Pros, graphics cards, mics, & every possible cable imaginable. And thanks to GDC09 for only finding one firewire PCI Express card in entire city of San Francisco.

Huge props to the Boinx guys, Bastian & Tino, AKA “Ze Germans”. Their ability to deal with a plethora of audio, video, live streaming, green screens, & graphics was flawless. I also quite enjoyed Tino’s Austrian Governator accent. “Come with me if you want to live!”

My co-hosts, Veronica & Crazy Chris Pirillo, were awesome as always with their mix of professionalism and jocularity!

Chris really spoiled the show for most of the people in the MacHeist chat and IRC channels during the event, I’m afraid. He was like an attention-seeking two-year-old, and not in a good way.

Coming from someone who worked on the show? Bias much?
Pirillo AND Belmont were boring and lost.

    The bundle sucked this year

Ok, real feedback… I actually listened/watched the whole thing while I was at work. It was mildly entertaining. I agree with Ryland, Chris was good. Without him there wouldn’t have been much goofing around and laughs I don’t think. I think there was a lot of awkwardness around talking about these apps, but I don’t necessarily think it was the talent’s faults.

This bundle is something I would never buy. I see absolutely no need for it and I’m someone who works in the industry. I think it’s more for average everyday users however it feels like it’s targeted towards the tech scene… So, that part is a bit weird for me. And I can tell that forcing people who most likely will never use any of those c-grade apps to say that they rock is a hard thing to do.

But, the bundle racked up a ton of cash… so obviously they’re doing something right. So what can you say.

The video was so-so, I agree with comments that at various times people looked lost & unsure of what was going on. I know its live, but even a script on a white-board in the background of what is going next would of helped.

Show aside, currently MacHeist is having MAJOR problems with getting the bundle out to customers, I would feel confident that this is the last bundle they will be offering for quite a while…

I watched a lot of it… and I tend to agree that Mr. Pirillo crossed some boundaries a lot of the time. Yes he added to the show by being funny… but sometimes it was a little tooo long and things seemed slow because of that.
Other than that, the production was great and I would like to congratulate you on such great feat!!! and it was LIVE… 8-o
my hats off to you :-)

I watched the video some minutes ago and I am still very entertained! I also agree with Tesseract, that a whiteboard with a skript on it in the background would be helpful for all, especially because it is a live show. But all in all a very good job!

y’all a bunch of haters. seriously. i was going to delete all your lame, bitter comments, but then you’d inevitably email me with whining complaints. all i’ll say is, the proof is in the pudding. the bundle is selling like hot cakes and loads of people are totally ecstatic about it.

Finally got my bundle on the second try (once they refunded me the first botched transaction).

Lisa, I thought you did a great job on the show. :) I’m looking forward to seeing you on more video gigs! I couldn’t stop laughing during the show either. It was quite entertaining. :D

I thought Lisa was brilliant, The apps this year wernt very compelling. it was fun to watch lisa and the others try to make the most of a rather boring collection of apps.
