Let’s Talk About Jessie Farrell.

Jessie Farrell, Jesse Tucker and Ryland Haggis rocked the Chrome Room at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary this weekend. I was so moved by their last performance that I actually ‘teared up’ during Jessie’s beautiful love song, “Fell Right into You”.

I played a vital role as the official photographer and t-shirt model. Between lugging around the “Beast” that is my camera + flash, shooting video footage, and squeezing into the smallest “Jessie Farrell” t-shirt ever, I was definitely kept busy. Though we did find time for a few karaoke songs, copious amounts of text messaging/crackberrying, a toast or two, a nish nish or three, and a nice, juicy steak.

**I interrupt this “inside-joke” post that only 5 people will “get” to tell you the exciting news that Jessie Farrell’s first single “Let’s Talk About Love” hit the radio yesterday. So please contact your local country radio station via phone/email/web and request Jessie’s amazing song.**

And now I present: The Jessie Farrell Emerson Drive tour photo diary:

That’s the end of the first photo diary. Next up, personal photos of the tour and tomfoolery. Excited? I thought so.

What’s that you say? Not enough pictures of me. I know. I know. Well, when you are the photographer you don’t get to frolic around in front of the lens that much. But, you know I wouldn’t disappoint you. Here’s one for all my personal fans. I call it: Lisa doing her best to sell t-shirts (and champagne).

What kind of camera do you use?

The light/smoke combo in the concert shots is really great. Looks like fun!

    Hi Lisa,

love the tour shots! You did a great job of dealing with the stage lighting.

Also, I’m with Kristin and would love to know what equipment you use.

Thanks for the positive feedback. It was quite an experience running around all night taking shots. I have the Canon Rebel Xti and was using the 15-55mm lens and the Canon 530EX Flash. I ended up not using the flash that much because the stage lighting was so great just how it was and if I was close enough to the stage there was enough light on the performers. I played a lot with shutter speed from 1/30 – 1/60 seemed to work best. I also cranked the ISO from 800 to 1600 because I wasn’t using a tripod. The higher ISO did result in some graininess so if anyone knows any tips to reduce the ISO, but get enough light, please let me know. I was quite limited by the lens, because I only have the 15-55mm and the 50mm Prime lens at the moment.

Next tour, I will be renting a wide-angle lens and a sweet zoom lens. Those will definitely help!
