Happiness is…

Happiness is skating on an outdoor rink in the Canadian Rockies.

Before I made apps and took photographs, I was a competitive ice dancer. When I was 20, I suffered a traumatic back injury. For almost 10 years, I was bed ridden and in tremendous pain all of the time. Doctors told me I would never skate again and have difficulties walking. These were very dark days.

After a long fight, I am healthy again and able to skate again into the light! I never take a moment like this for granted because it is more than magical experience, it is a miracle.

For all of you who are currently suffering from an illness or injury, I hope that you find your miracle too.

Y’know, it isn’t as though I wasn’t already amazed by your talent, creativity and energy, but now I learn that you’ve overcome a severe back injury exceeded all expectations (the ones from without, at least) to live your life with an exuberance that is truly inspiring. You’re life is a great story that just keeps getting better, and I hope there are many many chapters to come. Perhaps some manner of space exploration? Or a compact and affordable battery that will power homes, electric vehicles with minimal environmental impact. Yeah, so that would be great if you could see what you could do on that.

And, of course, you should continue your photography because you inspire us with your artistry. Maybe you could model in a few more rock videos, too. That’d be cool. (Stay away from those vinyl calf-hugging boots, though.) Actually, have you tried singing and song writing? Then you could star in your own rock videos!

Okay, I think that pretty much covers it. You’re awesome, and you can just ignore any and/or all of this. Glad your blog is back! Just keep doing what you want and more power to you!

Thank you for your kind words :) I actually did try singing and songwriting. I played some pretty packed coffee shops back in the day. And by pretty packed, I mean the barista and the employees of the store that had to be there.
