Art Attack!

You must know from my photo series, i heart Mother Earth, that I am a not a big fan of polluting our beautiful home with excessive amounts of garbage. There is simply too much garbage. Period. Yuck!

Garbage pile

Pet Peeve: Too many plastic bags. I have plastic bag spilling out of every place I stuff them into. I try to reuse plastic bag whenever I can, but I can never contain the spread of their plasticness all over my apartment.

What can you do with excess plastic bags? Well, if you are feeling an art attack coming on, here’s a crafty crochet project that my Mum (recently retired and new to the fun of the internet) found while googling: Crocheted Plastic Bag Tote. Click on the link for instructions to crochet your very own plastic tote bag made of recycled plastic bag strips!

Here is a picture of the finished project taken by my arts and crafty Mum, Jane. I think it looks pretty snazzy!

I see a little friend snuck into the photo. He’s sneaky, that one!

OK…should I be alarmed that I am strangely drawn to crocheting myself a shopping bag purse? Seriously. Like…may go buy a crochet hook after work and dig out some colorful bags serious. Cool!

The embarassing thing is…I don’t know how to crochet. Luckily, I have a scheduled visit with my Nana this summer and I know she can school me.

tisk tisk! you’d better get on that, or i shall call your Nana and tell her you’ve been neglecting your arts and craftiness in favour of ANTM! that will never do!

now go and quickly make a magazine collage picture frame and i’ll pretend i never heard you say…write, saw you type, saw your comment typings… oh you know what i mean, “i don’t know how to crochet”.

Wow, that’s awesome! Looks hard to do though…

There is way too much trash in this world. Hopefully we can really turn the corner as a society and lead more sustainable lifestyles.
