Around the World with my iPhone: Tokyo, Japan

Jan 21 2012

I have fallen in love with Tokyo, Japan. The people are some of the most friendly, polite, and kind people I have encountered. There was so much to capture, I shot for nearly 10 hours a day and still didn’t feel like I could do Tokyo justice. This chapter of my Around the World trip with my iPhone is all about street photography. I don’t have a lot of experience shooting this type of photography, so it was a new challenge for me. The gorgeous people of Tokyo definitely helped me get great shots.

Here are some behind the scenes videos of my adventures in Japan. It was freezing spending hours out in the cold, so by the end I went from dressing trendy to looking like a stay puff marshmallow man :|

For more photos, check out my Around the World travel blog for more photos.

I’m off to China next!

  1. It would be great if you could include the names of the hardware you are using especially any lenses. Kind of like what you did for the Olloclip. For example, is that the Photojojo telephoto or another brand? And the little tripod with case mount?

Thanks, awesome idea!! Super fun to watch.

  2. Really nice photos with iPhone/Camera+! I like the Camera+ app a lot! Just a question, I noticed a camera lens mounted on some kind of “shell” for the iPhone, and also a nice tripod. What are the brands/names for these things?

  3. I’m filming a video about all my iPhone accessories used on my trip… stay tuned.

    The telephoto is from Photojojo:

  6. Great photos, Lisa! I was in Japan a couple of weeks ago doing the same thing–traveling and taking photos only with my iPhone.

Looking forward to more photos and videos!

  7. Those are great photos! The leaf one is beautiful.

  8. Love your shots. I can’t believe they were all shot with an iPhone. Your shots make me want to go to Japan again. To me, the people in your shots look like they either haven’t noticed you taking pictures or don’t care. They’re concentrating on getting where they need to be. To see all the umbrellas in one shot makes me feel like that’s the place to be, like everyone likes walking in the rain under a vibrantly colored umbrella. There’s one picture of a person with an umbrella and it looks like you used a tilt shift post processing effect on it. It sure made the person with the umbrella the full center of attention. I really like that shot because of that.

  9. I’m definitely looking forward to the video on the iPhone accessories!!!
