Water <3 World

I’m sorry for the lack of posts, but my horrible computer over-use neck injury is taking it’s darn sweet time to heal. Apparently, these muscle-tendon injuries need longer than a day to heal. I know! What’s with that? And if you continue to work in anti-ergonomic conditions for 18+ hours a day, the injury comes back! Harsh.

It has been agony cutting out all computer activities for the last week, but I’ve been so good and not blogged at all for a whole week. But, I miss you all so much I just thought I’d throw up a cool picture that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about the world, that I took with the Canon 70-200mm IS f/2.8 lens I love so much. This was the first image that I edited and adjusted in Adobe Lightroom 2. So far so good. I’ll write a full review when I’m a bit better.

Some tips when doing a lot of computer work which have worked well for me:

    - I have a standing desk. Well, it’s really just a desk on some blocks, but it means I can stand at it to work
    - Got a tall architects chair to alternate between standing and sitting
    - My Apple bluetooth keyboard save some muscle strain and is a joy to type on
    - External monitor is a plugged into MBP. Needs to be at correct height
    - My workspace is directly in front of a large window so I change eye focus at any time, without twisting
    - Wii fit for balance games I think helps
    - Get out to local cafes and work in a different physical place.

    Hope that helps!

I’m so sorry you’re having a hard time. I went through this earlier this year, although my injuries weren’t specifically computer-related. I feel your pain! :-) Nevertheless, we are benefiting from the old saying that, “Good things come to those who wait!”

Awesome capture Lisa. We’ll all still be with you when you’re ready to come back, so take your time and heal properly!

It’s a cool shot. I haven’t gotten used to Lightroom yet.. To be honest, I’ll probably just stick with Photoshop. I put some photos on my Flickr of Jessie Farrell if you’re interested. Also, not sure if you’re heading to WordCamp, but I’m heading down on Friday — maybe I’ll see you there?

So. Lisa. I dm’d you on Twitter a long-ish time ago. You never got back to me. Harumph.
Are you going to Podcamp AZ in Phoenix, November 1-2?
    You should.
    Because I’m going.
And I thought “Hey, it would be super cool to meet an internet superstar like Lisa! Jeez Louise, I wonder if she’s going! She’d better be!”
    So yeah.
    Are you?

ps. Get better. I know, it’s hard to resist the interwebz. I haven’t figured out a way to do it yet, but if I do I’ll let you know.
