Here are some photos I grabbed with my trusty Canon Xti/400D (with the 50mm f/1.4 lens) of the 604 Records Showcase last Friday at the Red Room for New Music West. It was great to see Jessie Farrell et al. as they rarely play their hometown of Vancouver. In fact, I heard them play more in Jamaica than in Vancouver! But, as always Miss Jessie and her rock star band looked and sounded smokin’ hot!

Jessie Farrell and Jesse Tucker rockin’ it.

Miss Jessie is lookin’ super fancy.

Ryland Haggis knows which ace is bass.
There were also other bands who were totally indie stylez like:
& Lotus Child, who were awesome
& Aaron Pritchett, who has some huge guns.
PS. Chad didn’t show. I know. He totally blew me off.

Hot photos! I love the stage lighting. What kind of ISO id you need for these shots?

Did you use flash or a tripod? These images are crystal clear with no grain or blur. Very difficult to achieve. Spill!

She used an ISO of 400, but It was her f/1.4 lens that turned these photos so bright and clear.
…I am so jealous.

thanks everyone for your awesome comments.
@kristerella — i try to go as low as i can with the ISO (400-800). it was super dark and @Mojo i couldn’t bring a tripod into the show and I didn’t use my flash because i didn’t want to disrupt the show. @Robert is right, the Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens is money. seriously, it is tack sharp. i shot between f/2.2-1.4. i also try to find something to lean against if i can to keep my shots as still as i can and never shoot below 1/80th.
@Lyndon — Jessie is totally faboo. I’ve been shooting her since the very beginning of this album two years ago. you can check out all the photos and posts here. I even make a cameo in her first video. PS. I don’t actually play the fiddle. I’m acting!

Cool! Had a brief look at Flickr for the EXIF, but missed the link.
I got a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 for my birthday, but I haven’t been in any really difficult situations to stretch its legs yet.
