Actually, it's a Canon Rebel XTi with the 18-55mm kit lens and the Canon 580ex flash. In the low light areas, she pointed the flash straight up to bring the ambient light up a lot and then used the little white card that's built in as a catchlight.

You are a very talented photographer and your images definitely convey the moment.

Moreover, it looks like your trip to Calgary was a lot of fun!

Thanks for the positive feedback. It was quite an experience running around all night taking shots. I have the Canon Rebel Xti and was using the 15-55mm lens and the Canon 530EX Flash. I ended up not using the flash that much because the stage lighting was so great just how it was and if I was close enough to the stage there was enough light on the performers. I played a lot with shutter speed from 1/30 - 1/60 seemed to work best. I also cranked the ISO from 800 to 1600 because I wasn't using a tripod. The higher ISO did result in some graininess so if anyone knows any tips to reduce the ISO, but get enough light, please let me know. I was quite limited by the lens, because I only have the 15-55mm and the 50mm Prime lens at the moment.

Next tour, I will be renting a wide-angle lens and a sweet zoom lens. Those will definitely help!

Hi Lisa,

love the tour shots! You did a great job of dealing with the stage lighting.

Also, I'm with Kristin and would love to know what equipment you use.
